Another Fantasy Film Butterfly

A variation of a previous post but I do like this one.  The butterfly is done as before using Fantasy Film with wire and beads for the body and antennae . It's sitting on a masked flower with glimmer mists.   A piece of braid/ribbon held on by the stitching around the card.  The green and purple matts and the main piece distressed with a tool and mounted onto white A5 card.  I hope you like it and thanks for coming by :)

Sympathy Card

Sympathy cards are really difficult I think.  You don't want them too fussy or 'shouting out' for attention.  For this card I chose deep tones that were restful on the eye.  As you can see, it's very simple, the daisy stamp is quite an old one from Penny Black called 'Blush' inked with Marvy Blending Blocks Shades of Sunset and Shades of Olive dye pads. The little 'with sympathy' embossed in green is on a small piece of white card which  has the corners punched.

I used the cuttlebug to give some texture to the background pieces. All the pieces have the same corner shapes to unify the whole thing and  are mounted  onto a black A4 card scored in half.

I hope you like it, and thanks for coming by :)

Fantasy Film Butterfly

This gorgeous little butterfly is made with Fantasy Film and has a wired and beaded body and antennae.
I cut a circle out of a page of a book and matted it to a white scalloped circle.  I made a stencil with a round punch and used Shades of  Sunset Blending Blox ink pad on a sponge dauber to make the coloured circle.

This is then mounted onto a piece of card which has been masked with my Heidi Swapp floral mask and sprayed with glimmer mists.  This piece is stitched with multi coloured thread zigzags onto a pink and then black matt. The whole thing is mounted onto an A4 white card which was scored in half to make the card base.

I have a few variations of this card  which I will post if you are interested.  I hope you like this one and feel free to comment.  Thanks for coming by.

Tonal Swan

The colour in the photo makes it look blue but in real life it's shades of green, with a bit of blue on the swan's body and the ribbon is sort of dark turquoise.  Anyway this has hammered card as the base with cuttlebugged background papers.  One is a pearlescent paper and the other is coloured with kaleidacolour fresh greens ink pad.  The pearlescent strip is a Martha Stewart border punch.  The scalloped circles are nesties, a dark aqua and a green glitter card.  The swan is an Inkadinkadoo set I think (I must stop throwing away packaging!).  It is coloured using pencils and sansodor and has tiny sparkly flat back gems  on the wing.

I did some stitching in a multi coloured thread to attach the papers to a white card matt and added the dark turquoise ribbon threaded through the sentiment stamped in silver on an off cut of white card which I trimmed down and rounded the corners.

The colouring was done before I bought my copics, but I still often use coloured pencils blending with sansodor.  It's so relaxing.

I might try to take another photo to get a more realistic shot - but considering that I use my phone camera (!) that may not be possible.  I should invest in a decent camera really, perhaps then the cards would look  better on here.  The trouble is I am too impatient and just want to put them on the blog even if they could look better (promises, promises!).

Hope you like it and thanks for taking the time to look.

Another variation on the Three Ferns stamp by Hero Arts

This is another version  of Three Ferns stamp.  It uses distress inks sprayed with water before stamping onto a piece of white card stamped in distress inks with a text stamp on one side and the three ferns on the other.  The edges have been inked with the same colour and then distressed with a tool.  Thread is tied around and has a button knotted onto it.

The lacy ribbon I  have had for years and not used til now and the background paper on the left is a Pink Petticoat digi.  I have a ton of Pink Petticoat digi files they make gorgeous background papers and are lovely colours and designs and very reasonable.  The brown piece of card is stamped in versamark using the Three Ferns stamp again.  The sentiment is from an Inkadinkado (I think) clear stamp set of flowers. It is distressed and stamped with distress ink.

This is one of the cards that will be hard to give away.  You  know you have to give most of them away otherwise the house would be full of cards!  Anyway it means you have to make some more!

Crafty Individuals Fairy

This is one of my cards that didn't go to plan but I just kept going with it and although I'm not 100% happy with it, I still like it.

This is a rubbish photo because you can't see the shimmer but anyway trust me it looks better in real life!   The fairy is (another!) one of my favourite stamps, she is stamped in cosmic shimmer EP  onto mulberry paper which is on top of a piece of black and silver UTEE (in Dawn's melt art technique where you cut a piece of  Craft Sheet  to fit into your Melt Pot, heat a ton of UTEE and stamp into it with an inked stamp).  The problem with this particular one was you couldn't see the image clearly enough, despite going over it with mica powders which is why I did the piece of mulberry paper on the top.  I like the way you get the spiky edges with the melted UTEE.

That is then mounted onto a piece of  purple card with the fairy stamped randomly in black and sprayed with glimmer mist.  I've just noticed that this piece of card is upside down!  Oh well, too late now! It is edged with a silver leafing pen.  The white paper flower is stamped with a text stamp in black with black soot distress stickles and a button with silk thread.  The black paper flowers are glimmer misted and have silk threaded buttons as well..

The background card piece is glimmer misted and stamped with small flowers in champagne metallic ink.  The corner lacy papers are just torn and stuck on.  The 'hello' is made using alphabet stamps and edged in silver leafing pen.

Although it's not a perfect card,  it is one that I enjoy picking up and looking at it!  Sometimes you have to look past the faults and just accept your work as it is.

If you're still reading this thanks for that!!!!

Dreamweaver forest

The colours are pretty wild but I love the way this turned out.  Its a Dreamweaver stencil with easy metal over the paste.  It's actually done on a piece of purple and gold handmade paper so you can see some gold bits which is probably a distraction, but I was just playing with the paste and using various coloured papers and card to see how it would look (as you do!).  It's matted onto a very shiny gold paper and purple card.  The handmade paper leaves are from a batch of die cuts I bought on ebay and coloured with distress inks.  The sentiment is from Printworks Collection (from the states) and is matted as before.  The base card is a lovely pearlescent purple.  Hope you like it.

One of my favourite cards

This is one of my all time favourite Hero Arts stamps and I have done lots of variations on this theme.  I used distress inks watercolour technique on a piece of white card which was stamped with a large text stamp.  I then colour tinted the edges and used a distressing tool to rough up the edges too.  The background paper is digi from Pink Petticoat, and the tiny happy birthday is one of my oldest (foam!) stamps which I love.  The green and brown strip are cardstock.  The base card has a lovely metallic pearl finish.  As always it looks better in real life!   Thanks for looking :)

Thank You cards

My mum needed a load of Thank You cards after her 90th Birthday party.  I needed to do them real quick so I used my Craftwork Cards papers and cards.  They are all different, some more than others, but basically made from the same materials.  I used 2 Martha Stewart punches for the butterflies and 2 for the lacy edges, I love these as unlike a lot of other punches they will go through pretty thick card stock.  I used some Tim Holtz tissue tape on a few of them and a thank you stamp from PSX and one from All Night Media.
